Snake Pencils

 

Materials

• ~ 1" Ball white clay
• ~ Acrylic paint
• ~ Satin glaze
• ~ Pencil
• ~ Paintbrushes
• ~ Ruler

Instructions

• ~ Knead clay until soft and smooth. Roll on flat surface into a 12" long. Taper the back end (the tail) to form a point.
• ~ Rest the head side of the snake at the top of the pencil, then wrap the body around the pencil several times, ending with the tail.
• ~ Bake on an oven proof glass surface at 275 degrees for 15 minutes. Do not use a microwave oven. Avoid over baking. Thicker pieces may require additional baking time. Let cool then remove the pencil.
• ~ Apply paint to snake. Let dry and then coat with glaze.
