Rind Prints

 

Materials

  • ~ 2 plastic plates or pie tins
  • ~ White paper towels
  • ~ Paint brush
  • ~ Red and green paint
  • ~ White paper


Instructions

  • ~ Cut the rind from watermelon slices into pieces about 2-4 inches in length.
  • ~ Lightly moisten paper towels and layer them on top of each plate.
  • ~ Brush one color of paint onto each of the towels to create a paint pad.
  • ~ Have the children dip the rind pieces into the paint pads.
  • ~ Then press the rinds onto white paper to create a print of a watermelon-or whatever design they choose to create.
  • ~ For a finishing touch, place watermelon seeds on the wet paint.
