Bread Dough Sculptures

Materials

  • ~ Loaves of frozen bread dough (1 loaf for every 4 kids)
  • ~ Butter
  • ~ Jelly

Instructions

  • ~ Let bread dough thaw and rise according to package directions.
  • ~ When the dough has risen, cut each loaf into 4 pieces.
  • ~ Give each child a piece of dough to form into any shape: an animal, the first letter of their name, or whatever!
  • ~ Lay the formed dough onto prepared baking sheets.
  • ~ Allow the dough to rise again.
  • ~ Bake the bread sculptures at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or until golden.
  • ~ Serve the bread warm from the oven with butter and jelly.

Hint: If you take the dough out to thaw early in the morning, it should be ready for shaping around lunchtime. Then the dough can re-rise while the children take their afternoon naps and be ready to bake and eat for afternoon snack.
