Little Piggy Puppets

Materials

  • ~ Paper plates
  • ~ Styrofoam (round pieces)
  • ~ Pink paint
  • ~ Pink paper
  • ~ Paintbrushes
  • ~ Black marker
  • ~ Scissors
  • ~ Glue

Materials

  • ~ To prepare for this project, paint a one inch thick circular piece of Styrofoam pink for each pig puppet you will make. Allow these to dry before putting the puppets together.
  • ~ Paint the backs of two paper plates pink for each puppet you will make. Allow these to dry also.
  • ~ Cut two triangle ears from pink paper.
  • ~ Staple together two pink paper plates, attaching the ears in between the two plates. Roll the paper ears to make them curl.
  • ~ Trim off the bottom of the paper plates to create an opening for the child's hand.
  • ~ Glue on the Styrofoam snout and use the black marker to draw on two eyes.
  • ~ Use your puppets to act out the classic child's rhyme, "This little piggy." For added fun, include your children's names in the rhyme. For example, Kaylee's little piggy went to market, Ryan's little piggy stayed home.

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed home
This little piggy had roast beef
This little piggy had none
This little piggy cried:
"Wee, wee, wee," all the way home!
