Sweet Suncatchers

 

Supplies:

  • ~ Wax paper
  • ~ Permanent marker
  • ~ Yellow & orange tissue paper, cut or torn in small pieces
  • ~ Glue, slightly watered down
  • ~ Paintbrushes
  • ~ Scissors
  • ~ Hole punch
  • ~ String


Directions:


Before beginning this project with your kids, complete these two steps:

  1. ~ Print and cut out the attached sun-shaped template. PATTERN
  2. ~ Use the marker to trace the sun shape onto a piece of wax paper for each child.
    • ~ Have each child use a paintbrush to cover the sun shape with watered down glue.
    • ~ Stick pieces of yellow and orange tissue paper on the gluey surface.
    • ~ Carefully apply an additional layer of glue over the top of the tissue paper.
    • ~ Lay another sheet of wax paper on top of that, gently pressing to secure it.
    • ~ When the glue has dried, cut around the edge of the sunshine shape.
    • ~ Punch a hole near the top and loop a string through it. Hang in a sunny window!
