Mummy's the Word

Supplies:

  • ~ White paper-heavy stock
  • ~ Scissors-adult use
  • ~ Glue
  • ~ Paintbrushes
  • ~ Toilet paper
  • ~ Black paper
  • ~ Hole puncher
  • ~ Orange paper

Directions:

  • ~ Print out the attached template of a gingerbread man. Cut it out and trace the pattern onto heavy white paper. Cut out one mummy pattern like this for each of the children.
  • ~ Thin the liquid glue with water.
  • ~ Have the kids paint a layer of the thinned glue onto their mummy pattern.
  • ~ Next, the kids will tear toilet paper squares into strips and lay them onto the glue until the mummy is completely covered. Pieces of TP that extend beyond the paper edges of the mummy can hang off or be tucked around to the back.
  • ~ Use your hole puncher to make small circles from black paper. The kids can then dip two black dots in glue and add them to the mummy's face.
  • ~ For a finishing touch, mount the mummy onto orange construction paper.
