Pussy Willows

 

Pussy willows are one of the little gifts nature gives to us each year. The children will make their own pussy willow branches to decorate their homes. A recipe for homemade finger paint is included.

Finger Paint

• ~ 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
• ~ 2 Cups Cold Water

Mix together cornstarch and water and boil until mixture thickens. Cool. Pour into containers (baby food jars with screw on lids work well). To color paint add food coloring.

To Make Pussy Willows

Materials Needed:

• ~ Construction Paper in a Dark Color
• ~ White Tempura or Finger Paint

1. Draw a thin branch with many little fingers or branches on a piece of construction paper.
2. Show the children how to dip one finger in the paint and make a print on the branch. Continue to dip and print until the entire branch is covered to resemble pussy willows.
