Materials ~ 2 plastic plates or pie tins ~ White paper towels ~ Paint brush ~ Red and green paint ~ White paper Instructions ~ Cut the rind from watermelon slices into pieces about 2-4 inches in length. ~ Lightly moisten paper towels and layer them on top of each plate. ~ Brush one color of paint onto each of the towels to create a paint pad. ~ Have the children dip the rind pieces into the paint pads. ~ Then press the rinds onto white paper to create a print of a watermelon-or whatever design they choose to create. ~ For a finishing touch, place watermelon seeds on the wet paint.
