Pirates Props

 

Pirate Hat

No decent pirate would be caught dead-or-alive without his trusty hat!

Materials

  • ~ Black construction paper (2 sheets per child)
  • ~ Small dinner plate
  • ~ Scissors
  • ~ Tape or stapler

Directions

  • ~ Set two sheets of black paper on top of the other.
  • ~ Set a small plate in the middle of the paper.
  • ~ Trace around the top half of the plate to make the top of the hat. Then draw curved lines out from there to create the brim.
  • ~ Use the scissor to cut out the hat.
  • ~ Glue or staple the two pieces together.
  • ~ Decorate with white crayons or add a feather for fun!

Shiny Earring

How much did the pirate pay to get his ears pierced?
A BUC-AN-EER!

Materials

  • ~ Aluminum foil
  • ~ Rubber bands (one per earring)

Directions

  • ~ Tear off a piece of foil, about the size of a postcard.
  • ~ Tightly fold & roll the foil so that it becomes like a stick.
  • ~ Bend the stick into a circle.
  • ~ Tear off a piece of foil, a little bigger than a postage stamp.
  • ~ Lay the rubber band next to the aluminum foil circle, right where the two ends come together.
  • ~ Wrap the small piece of foil over the rubber band and around the foil circle to attach the two pieces.
  • ~ To wear the earring, wrap the rubber band around your ear and let the silver circle dangle.

Pirate's Periscope

Set your swashbuckler's sights on this fun craft!

Materials

  • ~ Brown construction paper
  • ~ Tape
  • ~ Glue
  • ~ Scraps of brightly colored paper

Directions

  • ~ Roll the brown paper into a tube shape.
  • ~ Tape the side to seal in place.
  • ~ Decorate the periscope with "jewels" cut from paper scraps.
