In mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, and thyme; toss with meat to coat. In Dutch oven, brown meat in hot oil. Stir in cider, water, and vinegar. Cook and stir; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered until meat is tender, about 1 hour. Add vegetables, apple and some additional water if needed. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes.
Yield: 11 servings
Serving Size: 1/11 of stew is 1.5 oz. meat/ meat alternate and 1/4 cup vegetable for a 3 - 5 year old at lunch/supper.
