Inside Out Ravioli



1-1/4 cups cup uncooked shell macaroni
1 lb. lean ground hamburger
1 (10 oz.) package of frozen chopped spinach
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 (16 oz.) can or jar spaghetti sauce
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 cup shredded (cheddar or mozzarella) cheese
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
2 large beaten egg(s)


Cook macaroni according to package directions for al dente. Drain. Brown ground beef until done. Drain. Cook spinach according to package directions. Drain spinach, reserving liquid; add water to make 1 cup. Add spinach water, seasonings, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and tomato paste to browned meat; simmer 10 minutes. Combine cooked spinach with macaroni. Add cheese, bread crumbs and beaten eggs to the macaroni mixture. Spread macaroni mixture in lightly greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Top with meat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Yield: 9 pieces
Serving Size: 1 piece is 1.5 oz meat/ meat alternate, 1/4 cup vegetable and a 0.5 oz grain for a 3-5 year old at lunch/supper.
