2 Bean Chili Recipe

 

Ingredients:

1 lb. lean ground beef or turkey
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (28 oz.) can whole (cut into pieces) undrained tomato(es)
1 (15.5 oz.) can undrained chili beans
1 (15 oz.) can undrained red kidney beans
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. ground red pepper
shredded cheese optional

Directions:

Brown ground beef with onion in large saucepan or Dutch oven; drain. Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Simmer 20 - 25 minutes or until flavors are blended. Serving suggestion: Place tortilla chips in bottom of the bowl, top with chili and shredded cheese.


Yield: 8 servings
Serving Size: One serving is 1.5 oz meat/ meat alternate and 1/4 cup vegetable for 3 - 5 year old at lunch/supper.
