8 am - 10 am
Mindful Limits for Healthy Child Development - Andy Johnsrud (KCF IIC) Learn practical skills as we explore the critical connection between a childs development and a well-regulated adult caregiver. Explore practical foundations of mindfulness for use in common situations with children. Mindfulness practices are a path to learn how you can share a calm presence and emotional regulation with your children every day - especially tough days, joyful days, all days! Learn basic ideas for setting limits as an act of care and love. Investigate embodied presence as a developmental asset for all children, especially those with challenging pasts. Learn how to share your presence through empathy, experience, and example. This helps us give our kids the loving foundation they need for their lifelong development.

Normalize differences and embrace diversity using books. Explore how to promote positive interactions and inclusive conversations that may be sparked through books and reading. Move your program into a culture of inclusion, integration, and acceptance by fostering cooperation and positive interactions between children. Review books that celebrate diversity by participating in interactive learning during group discussions. Kinda Mean - Kristen Wheeler Highland (KCF IIC) Between the ages of 3 and 5, children are experimenting with behaviors and are learning how to get along with each other. Our job is to provide an environment that fosters respect, kindness, cooperation and help them develop conflict resolution skills. Identify and explore concrete ways to prevent and respond to behaviors. Explore activities and resources to build childrens skills (feelings, empathy, kindness, respect, self-control and conflict resolution). Actively supporting children in learning how to live together peacefully will set them up for positive interactions later in life and provide them a wide range of skills that will support the prevention of future bullying. Tips, techniques, activities and resources will be shared.
