Your Go-To Cereal & Yogurt Guide for the Updated Sugar Limits!

September 12th, 2025
Molly Turnquist Butala, MPH, RDN, LD, CMP, CCNP, Nutrition Manager

Starting October 1, 2025, all yogurt and cereals served in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) need to meet these added sugar limits:
Yogurt: No more than 12 grams (g) of added sugars per 6 ounces (oz)
Cereal: No more than 6 grams (g) of added sugars per dry ounce (oz)

Navigating the grocery aisle just got easier. With so many brands, flavors, and labels out there, we’ve simplified the process by creating clear, easy-to-use Approved Yogurt and Cereal Lists—so you can shop with confidence and stay within added sugar limits.

Yogurt and Cereal Lists

The products on these lists meet all CACFP meal pattern requirements. View and save our Approved Yogurt and Cereal Lists for easy access.

We want to make shopping for CACFP compliant foods simple and stress-free for child care providers like you. We hope these lists make your shopping easier so you can focus on doing what you do best—providing excellent care for children. To learn more about this sugar limit change, read our blog from earlier this summer.
