Vegetable Prints

Materials

  • ~ Vegetables (Potatoes, Carrots, Leeks, Radishes, Broccoli)
  • ~ Construction Paper
  • ~ Paints

Cut vegetables in different ways; for example slice a carrot lengthwise or a leek or radish crosswise. Potatoes can be cut in half and shapes carved in the flat surface of the cut potato. Get paint out. Test a print, if paint is too thin; add flour as a thickener. If too thick, add more water. Use a brush to paint the surface of the vegetable or dip a sponge in the paint and place the cut side of the vegetable on the sponge surface. Have children make prints on construction paper. (Place newspaper under construction paper for clearer prints.)
