Applesauce Nut Bread

 

   Serving Size:
1/2 slice provides one grain serving for 3 - 5 year old.

 

   Yield:
30 servings

 


 

Ingredients:

2/3 c. milk
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 well beaten egg(s)
1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. raisins, optional
1 1/2 c. bran flakes cereal
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. melted shortening
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Pour milk over cereal in a bowl; set aside. Mix flour with sugar, baking powder and salt. Add egg, shortening and applesauce to softened cereal. Add flour mixture. Stir just to moisten all flour. Fold in nuts and raisins. Pour into 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cut into 15 slices.
