Thankful Hands Placemat

Supplies:

  • ~ Orange construction paper
  • ~ Thanksgiving themed stickers
  • ~ Black or brown marker
  • ~ Clear contact paper

Directions:

  • ~ Use the marker to trace around kids hands on the paper.
  • ~ Print the words, "I'm thankful for" at the top of the paper
  • ~ Ask the child to tell you two things they are thankful for. Note: Reading some of the suggested stories will help get kids thinking about what they are really thankful for. However, very young children will probably just say whatever they see in front of them, like "stickers". If they do, try to resist the urge to coach them into saying the correct answers like "family and friends". It's okay to be thankful for stickers and mom and dad just might get a good laugh.
  • ~ Let the child decorate the placemat with a few stickers.
  • ~ Cover the placemat with clear contact paper to protect it from spills.
  • ~ Encourage the child to take it along to a thanksgiving celebration.
